Have you ever heard the word “Antigua”, well if you are Spanish you might have, but do you know what it means? Antigua literally means ancient in Spain, Christopher Columbus named this island so in testament to a cathedral in Santa Maria!
Do you know what the National Flower of Barbados is? This is the national flower of Barbados, and this type is extremely rare, called the “Pride of Barbados” it is a Hibiscus plant.
St Lucia now known as the luxury island of the Caribbean, used to be a land of war and battle. This was an island of war with the French and the British fighting over it for many occasions earning its name “Helen”.
How many people do you think live on Jamaica, just a rough guess, and I bet that you get it completely wrong. Trust me it is more than you would have thought, were you thinking around 600,000? I doubt that you were very close, the number you are trying to find is somewhere in the region of 3 million!
Cuba is very much a misunderstood state, although some points are true, there are others that are quite interesting to note. This is interesting to note especially when you consider the strong regime that is being enforced in Cuba, to find out that it is the most culturally diverse countries in the Caribbean!
Grenada is a sovereign state, and has taken advantage of its natural beauty as much as possible to exploit tourism heavily. However Grenada has another name like Zanzibar, it is known as the Spice isle. It is a leading producer of many different spices, like; Cinnamon, cloves, ginger and Nutmeg.
Finally we have Bermuda, well without stating the obvious superstitious stuff about this place, let’s find out something else. Bermuda is considered by many to be one island, when it actually consists of more than a hundred small islands.
